Country’s mentor program launched
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched the “Mentor of the country” program on 11 October 2021 (Monday). On this launch event, the Chief Minister of Delhi said that, “If our children get better guidance in school then they can win the world. This ‘Desh Ke Mentor’ scheme has started in all government schools of Delhi. It is my appeal to all the youth that, definitely connect your children with a mentor, help them to go towards a bright future.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Government, Manish Sisodia said that, the job of the mentor is to provide help, guidance and ideas and the responsibility of the child is to hone his talent by hard work, smart work and constant efforts.
What is the country’s mentor program
Presently there are about 9 lakh children in class IX-XII in government schools. This “Desh Ke Mentor” program includes adoption of 01 to 10 students from any government school, who can be mentored by successful citizens in their respective fields. These mentors will spend 10 minutes every week to provide guidance to these students over the phone. Interested citizens can adopt 01 to 10 children studying in government schools in the city, under this ‘Desh Ke Mentor’ initiative.
Developed by a team at Delhi Technological University, the app allows people in the age group of 18 to 35 to sign up to be mentors and engage with students based on mutual interests. The program will be for a minimum period of two months and may alternately extend to four months. A mentor will be appointed for every two to five students.
Role of mentors in nation building
The Chief Minister of Delhi further said that these mentors will also teach good behavior to their students. Chief Minister Kejriwal, on the occasion of the launch of this program, appealed to the youth and successful people of the country to become mentors and help in nation building. If a guru trains a student, then that student will play his role in the development of the whole society as well as the country. To participate in this ‘Desh Ke Mentor’ program, the state government has created an app. This new ‘Desh Ke Mentor App’ can be downloaded by making a missed call on 7500040004.

The Delhi government had announced in August that Bollywood actor Sonu Sood would be the first brand ambassador of the ‘Desh Ke Mentor’ programme.

Chief Minister Kejriwal also said that, whenever a student passes class 9 and enters teenage, he has to face a different kind of pressure. We want that, all such students should get such a guru whom they consider as their brother, friend or sister and share all their problems with them. For this purpose, citizens from not only Delhi but also from other parts of the country will be able to mentor the students to make their life successful.

This ‘Desh Ke Mentor App’ has been launched by Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal. All interested citizens and candidates can download this ‘Desh Ke Mentor Mobile App’ by giving a missed call on the number 7500040004. The purpose of this mentorship app of the Education Department of Delhi is to provide better guidance to the students of government schools. All the students will be able to find such mentors for themselves who will enable them to succeed in their careers.
